Strike Percussian

This morning the Clark family, including our Lauren performed in KBS Factor. She sang 'Love is Easy'. We thought she was awesome and amazing. Then Mrs Henderson and some teachers did the gumboot dance. It was funny.

This afternoon the group 'Strike Percussian' performed for us.
We thought it was amazing, awesome, 'rocking', fantastic, exciting, loud and wicked.
They had big drums hanging from huge pipes.
They did a fire show.
Mrs Lott and Mrs Ward had a competition to see who was the fastest drummer. Mrs Lott won.
We had a great afternoon.

Tuesday Newsday

"Today Mrs Henderson went to another school for a wee visit. She went to have a look at their cool reading programme" said Loucias

'Mrs Lott came in to teach us and play a game while Mrs Henderson was gone" said Kah'nal
"Today is also Mrs Henderson's Birthday" reminded Jacob
Mica made a birthday card for Mrs H on a device with her photo on it. She is so lucky.

Madison reminded us that Casey shared with us about the colour of the airplane tails changing to black.

Lauren thinks that the year 3/4 production called "Little Red Rocking Hood' was really interesting'
Dylan's best part of the show was when the cops took the wolf away.
Izzy's best part was when the wolf's pants came down.

Springy September

We are reading the BFG by Roald Dahl. In the story the giant said to Sophie "Giants eat human beans and they taste like the place they come from. People from Wales taste like Whales." He said that human beans were different flavors.
We decided to make ourselves into human beans. We thought about what flavor we would be.

Kobie and Jacob - "We had a big chart full of Meadow Fresh stickers but we still need more!"

Izzy and Jade - "Our Kiwiana quilt is on the wall now. Come in and see it!"

Emma and Bella - "We have been talking and learning about Kiwiana"

Dylan, Loucias and Danny - "We love Kaiapoi Borough School!"

Mica and Quinn - "We have been practicing Samoan Alphabet together"

Billy and Sam - "Awesome Studio 1 shared our Quilt making at our Learning Celebration"

Madison and Casey - "We have been working hard on our reading everyday"

Craze Day!

Today was Craze Day.

Madison told us all about using the elastics. She said that Daisharn and Kusania joined in too.

One of the elastics rhymes is:

England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales
Inside, outside, puppy dog's tails.

We also had a Learning Celebration with Studio's 2,5,6,7 and 8. We shared about our paper patchwork quilts that are all about Kiwiana (said Axell).

Dylan reminded us that the map of New Zealand is on it.

Notices went home today.

This morning, after Whanau Time, the whole school went out on the field and stoop in shapes to form the word AWESOME!
Mr George went up on the roof of the hall and took our photo. We all did a big thumbs up to the camera.

Izzy said "I like writing because it helps me learn more words everyday"
Dylan said "I like it when people play with  me"
Jade said "We have been learning our spelling words"
Mica said "Yesterday when Mrs Henderson came back to school, everybody was so excited about it"
Mrs Henderson said "I'm so excited to be back too. I missed everyone!"
Sam said " At school I am learning maths and I can help people when they are stuck"

Today we went exploring with magnets. In groups we searched the school for things that our magnets would and would not attract.

It was really interesting to discover what our magnets would stick to!

Our new class member Danny and his back up crew amazed us with their performance of Gangnam Style at Whanau Time today.

Danny is in Studio 1 for the next three weeks. He is from South Korea. We are really excited to have him in our class!
